Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
